Have you ever wondered just how we create the beautiful, custom cakes at the shoppe? So much creativity and logistics go into designing an occasion cake, from color coordination to structural support. Here is the life cycle of a cake, told in pictures, from beginning to end!
The first step to any cake order is the conversation with the customer. This step is super important to us because it is when we get to hear your story and learn about you! We are there from the very beginning to help you choose flavor, design, size, and everything else that will make your cake perfect. Once we hash everything out, the order is sent to the back for preparation!
Batter up!
This is where the bakers come in. In the wee hours of the morning, they are whipping up huge quantities of batters and prepping cake pans. While the bakers are doing their thing, the decorators are pouring over order sheets discussing design concepts and prepping fondant. In some cases, a decorator has even helped consult with a customer about a cake, so she might choose to work on that one. Now the fun can begin…

The decorators work on each of their cakes as if it was their own. They take such personal pride in each one and their painstaking care to detail is incredible to watch! As someone who takes custom orders up front, it is always amazing to see the cake come to life in the expert hands of the decorators.
